Hello, my name is Karen. I’m 48 years old and come from the south of France, near Montpellier, and I’m very attached to my region and its culture. I have a master’s degree in French as a foreign language and also a diploma in Spanish language and civilization. Why did I choose this specialty? Because the French language and culture are very rich and give me the privilege of meeting students from all over the world with very different profiles.
I’ve been teaching French as a foreign language for 23 years. My profession has become my passion! What a pleasure to introduce interested students to the French language and culture! I also speak Spanish, English and a little Portuguese. In my free time, I like to go for walks in the countryside or to the beach, I swim, I go to the cinema and I spend a lot of time with my family and friends.
I adapt to the needs and profiles of students and beginners are welcome!
As far as language learning is concerned, I use a variety of media (video, images, articles, songs) to free up students’ expression and help them gain confidence. My lessons are generally interactive. I like to propose a document before or at the beginning of the course that allows students to express themselves on a thematic subject in order to refresh vocabulary first and then enrich it by going deeper into the theme.
This technique naturally integrates skills (grammar) at the student’s level, enabling them to express themselves more precisely. Depending on the level, expression can take the form of free conversation, role-playing or debate.
At the end of the class I send the student the course with notes and corrections as well as the exercises to be done: vocabulary, grammar or written expression/preparation for oral expression which I will correct before the next class.
As for DELF DALF or TCF exam preparation, our online courses focus on practicing oral expression, reviewing important lexical and grammatical points, and reworking them orally together to reinforce the development and argumentation required for the exam. Each course is followed by
– dispatch of course, notes, corrections and corrected homework for the next course
– sending an oral expression to present at the next class or a written expression to write and send to me.
Of course, each course depends on the student and his/her interests.
Finally, I also prepare students for specialized French courses, such as business French, international relations…
